A recent web search on bowls scoring has a statistical method of comparing the performance of the Skip / Team. The basis of the analysis is on the number of ends won and lost over a number of games compared to the number of shots won and lost over the same number of games.
The analysis comes up with a number based on hundreds of results taken in the Australian leagues. This figure or index is 1.87. If the skip is performing better than average the value will be higher than 1.87, and if the skip is performing below average the score will be lower than 1.87.
